Day 1: July 3, 2017 (first published on Tumblr).

The air is filled with excitement as we launch our round-the-world (RTW) trip today! It started out with us reviewing the travel checklist for the last and final time and assuring my in-laws that we’d be safe on our journey. After realizing that we need to get dropped off at SFO’s domestic terminal rather than the international one due to our layover in D.C., we were on our way to the gate. Making a pitstop at Andalé’s in the terminal to enjoy our last Mexican meal for awhile, we were then ready to board. My lucky number 24, left a free window seat available in our row, and I wondered if we’d be so lucky on the next leg of the trip. Alas, sort of were, because after we boarded the leg from D.C. to Dublin, this older teenage girl and her 50-something European dad swapped seats so the girl was seated next to us in row 25 rather than the dad. More space is always greatly obliged from fellow travelers when you have the option to switch seats. Buckle up, because it’s going to be an amazing adventure!
